Research Interests

My field of interest is law & economics. In the past couple of years I have been doing research on the economic analysis of criminal procedure. In particular I am interested in understanding what drives many societies’ ambition of avoiding as many convictions of innocents as possible even at the cost of acquitting many criminals (with all the consequences that this implies). I am doing both theoretical and experimental work on this topic. More generally, I am interested in the economic theory of deterrence, with its applications to many fields of law, including regulation. In the past, and especially for my PhD dissertation, I have worked on the theory of legal entitlements and on the theory of optional law.
