Since February 2010, I am assistant professor (RTD) of Law and Economics at the Free University of Bozen - Bolzano. From September 2009 to January 2010 I was junior economist (funzionario a contratto) at the Italian Comunications Authority.
My research Interests
My field of interest is law & economics. In the past couple of years I have been doing research on the economic analysis of criminal procedure. In particular I am interested in understanding what drives many societies’ ambition of avoiding every possible conviction of innocents as possible even at the cost of acquitting many criminals (with all the consequences that this implies). I am doing both theoretical and experimental work on this topic. More generally, I am interested in the economic theory of deterrence, with its application to many fields of law, including regulation and finance. In the past, and especially for my PhD dissertation, I have worked on the theory of legal entitlements and on the theory of optional law.
